Experience Kaprun Castle Medieval Festival
Set beneath the dramatic peaks of the Austrian Alps, the annual festival at Burg Kaprun transforms this 12th-century castle into one of Austria’s most memorable summer traditions.
Ancient stone courtyards fill with armored fighters, artisan guilds, musicians, medieval markets, fire performances, and the sounds of celebration echoing through the castle walls late into the evening.
The atmosphere extends well beyond the castle gates. Throughout the Zell am See–Kaprun region, summer in the Alps brings mountain lifts, glacier viewpoints, lakeside cafés, alpine trails, village festivals, and long evenings surrounded by some of Austria’s most spectacular scenery.
Guests will have time to experience both the energy of the festival and the slower rhythm of alpine travel — whether exploring Salzburg’s old town, relaxing beside Lake Zell, riding into the mountains, or lingering over dinner in a traditional Austrian guesthouse.
